A new direction
I haven’t written on this blog for a long time. Period. No excuses. I thought I could continue, but I can’t. Not right now. Especially with the holiday approaching, deadlines need to be met in order for me to feel like I can relax.
Its not that I haven’t been blogging. But for some reason ever since I found out I was pregnant and then going through the changes a first child brings, I kind of took a step back from the internet/technology world for a bit to reflect.
I am not one to be saying that online conversations aren’t important and I do need to be doing more to keep those relationships thriving and excelling, but for some reason, my world changed. Before, when Cammon would go to the office, I dove into my online world and persona to touch base with friends and would spend hours online-because that was my world.
Now I think of things that need to be done around the house, I do yoga to make sure my body stays fit, I plan good meals to eat so I can get as much nutrition as I can. I talk with friends who are not online who are outside walking with the stroller. I still check twitter and facebook and linkedin every day to check in with what is happening, but for some reason, even though this kid isn’t even born yet, those things aren’t the most important even right now.
Like I said before though, I actually have been blogging, just not here. I write several posts a day. I have a private blog for my husband where I write him little love notes each day. I write a post to my mom once a week on another blog. I also participate in a family blog in which all of us from near and far write daily the things we are grateful for.
I also now have a personal blog called Mom’s Advice. It is like stealing the idea from a good friend Dave who started a podcast with his wife when they were expecting their first called Two Boobs and a Baby. I have my own journal I am keeping with personal conversation directed toward my kid, but the fears, excitement and ideas I have during this pregnancy as well as in future years I expound and share and ask for your advice on at this blog.
I don’t look or market my consulting any more. If someone wants help, I’ll be more than glad to help them if they ask, but right now trying to take on more work is probably the wrong way to go.
So really, for right now till January, this blog will probably be silent. I will pick it back up in January and write a post once a week on here. I hope this doesn’t offend anyone and if you do want to keep up with personal thoughts and feelings, go follow me at the other blog Mom’s Advice.
No commentsWarning: Podcasting is NOT for the General Public
So, we ran into some trouble with the Podcamp SLC venue. Here is how the process went down:
-You have to send in an application to reserve a room. But for any dates past Jan 1st you have to wait until November 15th to send the application in.
-I called on November 10th to find out if the rooms I wanted to reserve were taken anyway, and how likely it would be that if I got my application in first, would they be taken. I was reassured that at that time all the rooms were available and Sat. is not a very high requested day-it was just a matter of jumping through the hoops and submitting the application.
-I got up early on the 15th to fax the application in and then waited. I just got off the phone today with someone saying that while applications are taken first come first serve, internal employees to the venue are actually really first, and someone had reserved all the rooms for that day.
And here is the kicker. The phone call was to see if I wanted to change the dates, I asked them if I did change the dates what the details would be.
-I was asked exactly what group this was that wanted to reserve the rooms. I told them there were initially 4 of us who want to gather people who were interested in podcasting. It was open to the public and there would be no charge.
“Well, I am familiar with podcasting,” I was told “and I have to say that it just isn’t a broad enough topic to extend to the general public, so while you aren’t charging to attend, since its for a niche group of people our venue would have to charge you the regular rental rates on everything.”
Um, not for the general public? Name me one demographic that CAN’T podcast and I’ll find you someone in that demographic who is. There have been other “camps” similar to this one that has drawn in a crowd of as much as 1,000 plus people.
So apparently I have been misinformed for these past few years!
Anyway, while this is an obstacle that we need to overcome, it will make Jan 26th, when we do have a kick a** event that much sweeter cause we conquered and overcame. So plan on still attending and having an awesome time learning, sharing and networking. Just don’t expect to network with anyone from the “general public” there.
No commentsAnother Job Position
The reason I have been slacking in my writing has been because of a recent shift in job positions. I am still consulting under mediajoltz and I still work with my husband at CopperRain Productions, but I have also been blessed with the opportunity of a lifetime.
This job is going to take a lot of my time-but I am sure I will love every minute of it. I will try to write at least once a week-but you can still reach my through email and I can answer any of your questions-any day of the week.
According to some who also hold this job title, I may become a bit overwhelmed with the job duties and tasks required of me, but I will learn by leaps and bounds and become an overall better person because of it.
My new job title I now hold is: Mother.
I am very excited. I had my third doctor’s visit and he said that I am out of the miscarriage stage. We officially heard the heartbeat yesterday at a strong 159.
I hope that all of my American readers enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving coming up. I know there is plenty for me to be thankful for!!

Hey guys! There are some fun things happening at Mediajoltz and later in this month they will be revealed. One of the projects I am working on is a consulting package. Here is what it looks like:
For $65 USD a month with a minimum 3 month contract I am offering:-One 10 min podcast (although 2-4 a month is recommended)
-2 hour phone/Instant Messenger/Email consultation
-Weekly Tip about New Media
-Instant friend link into all the communities I already belong including: access to over 2 million on Linkedin, Facebook, etc
-Reminder notifications for Blog, Podcasts Updates
-8 proofs of your blog/podcast
What do you think, sound interesting? I’ve already got a few who are interested in this deal and its been lots of fun! My purpose is a 3 month contract and if you want to work more with me after that its another 3 months. I will work for you up to a year, but my purpose is to get you on your feet and running an online presence for yourself within 6 months.
This is just a part of a big picture that could mean tons of fun things happening. In the meantime, continue to work on your blogs and build your relationships. While you are writing your posts, don’t forget to comment on someone else’s blog….
