CowPies and Marketing

Someone thinks CowPies might actually be a selling point.

Thumbing through the pre-Thanksgiving get your Christmas gifts now ads for toys and electronic gadgets, I came across the weekly ad brochure for a local grocery store, Macey’s Food Market. I do have to say that there is some marketing genius behind this because it did catch my eye and stopped me dead in my tracks.

Yes, thats right, cowpies. Natural Juice, Forget the Fork bring the shovel pies, with cows as the characters. Okay, is it me, or what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear “American Original CowPie.” Then you hear “natural juice pies” and your nose crumples up even further. By the time I got to “forget the fork” my husband looked like he was going to toss his cookies! Of course you’ve got the apple and cherry and walnut kind of pies, but even the font type for that is smaller than the rest of the ad.

I just wanted your opinion on what this ad might make you think of and if you would jump at the chance to purchase this at the store?

I want to try one! I’m off to Macey’s during lunch to check them out.

Whether this will catch on is left to be seen, I’m sure. This is one of those high-risk forays into the marketplace that’s certain to become a smash hit or fail miserably. There won’t be much middle ground. I appreciate the fortitude that drives people to try “unsafe” direction like this. Kudos!

Sounds delicious. Of course, anything with an image of cows on it is a winner with my kids.

    Moo,
