MediaJoltz 01 Podcast
Welcome to the first episode of Mediajoltz Podcast! This podcast is dedicated to all those who want to learn more about media and the tools that are out there to help you better communicate your brand to clients.
If you have any questions or suggestions please email me at lorri@mediajoltz.com.
This first episode is casual as I introduce myself and my background-I work with a video production company and had started doing seminars on web video, podcasting and blogging and realized there are a lot of people who have heard these words, but didn’t know how these tools can be used as tools for their company. I found myself many times consulting businesses on how to integrate media into campaigns they were preparing. I started to listen to a lot of podcast and read a lot of blogs to make sure I am on top of the latest in media and online communication and want to be able to provide this information to everyone, not just those locally.
One thing I don’t mention in my podcast: my dream job in college was to be the first female Superbowl Director…who knows, it could still happen….

Hey Lorri, great first podcast. There always has to be a first and it gets better with time.
Couple things; breath. There were sections that seemed a little rushed. I think if you relax a little more, you won’t find yourself trying to think on your feet and filling your time with a lot of ‘ums’.
As for the format; I think you have a great idea. You may also break the podcast up with a few 10-15 second music breaks, maybe some Q&A time, and be sure to provide links for other podcasts that augment your show and give listeners additional value. You may even mention them in your podcast.
Ok, so for a good question. I have a friend who crochets custom covers for things like watches, cups, books, iPods, things like. She would like to sell them, but wants to know how she can effectively use a podcast or video cast, to increase visibility and sales. Thoughts?
Thanks for the feedback. I realized that even though I was giving seminars on podcasting, it is a totally different thing to do one. It still is tons of fun, and I hope everyone will bare with me!
As for your friend, that is a tough question. One thing to remember is that the purpose of a podcast is not to sell more, no one will listen to a long advertisement.
So the purpose should be mainly as a visibility factor. Some ideas are: she can start a series on all the uses of a cover-is it just to protect, or is it cool, is it more reliable than just throwing it in a backpack?
Maybe a “Use of the Day” series of all the different portability possibilities and how to personalize them.
She could ask around and find out what questions people have and answer them. She could do a man on the street and find out how people are carrying them and then the dangers “this person carries her iPod in her purse, well some of the dangers are…” Give it some peronality.
Then she can upload these videos to several sites, ask friends to blog about the new series… and get them up on her own website.
At the end of the day, visibility will help awareness and start a new lead generation tool.
